From the page: "Acts of terrorism, hurricanes, cyclones, wildfires, drought, famine, major power outages -- natural or man-made disasters will impact us all at one time or another.
Aid organizations and other nonprofits are frequently called to assist with disaster recovery efforts, even though this may not be a core function of their work. Still, they're often recognized as organizations that are out in the community, willing to help, and able to mobilize teams of people. Depending on the type of disaster and availability of other resources, your organization may even find itself acting as a de facto emergency service assisting victims with first aid, transport, or counseling."

From the page: "Chevron is one of the largest foreign investors in Burma and is the only remaining major U.S. corporation with a significant presence there. In 2005, Chevron bought the company Unocal weeks after the latter settled a lawsuit accusing it of assisting the Burmese military junta in the torture, murder and rape of villagers during construction of a pipeline. We play excerpts of the documentary Total Denial and speak to Katherine Redford, one of the attorneys who brought the suit."

From the site: "Food banks around the country are reporting critical shortages that have forced them to ration supplies, distribute staples usually reserved for disaster relief and in some instances close."
